After graduating from New Canaan HS in 1959...
Dave Cort bounced thru UConn and El Camino College in SoCal before concluding that the Air Force presented a better career starter. During my four years with the US Air Force, I was part of an Atlas ICBM Launch Crew stationed at Forbes AFB near Topeka, Kansas. During that time I married and had a daughter. I also attended Washburn University in Topeka and worked for the Kansas Highway Commission after my exit from the USAF.

Returning to my home base in Southern California I began a career working with computers at Douglas Aircraft Co. My wife and I unfortunately split up. I gradually got more programming experience on various business computers, eventually starting my own small custom software company “Pacific Edge Systems” which kept me occupied for 20 plus years. I developed custom database and business software for some very large law firms, Toyota, CBS, Fox, and many other companies.

I met my second wife Carol Armitage in Mexico on a vacation trip to Club Med and we have now been married 25 years. My daughter and her husband with their two children live near us here in SoCal. Carol and I have both been very active in sailboat racing and have been officials for yacht clubs and major ocean races. We are long time members of Los Angeles Yacht Club where I am a former Commodore. I am a board member of the Transpacific Yacht Club and recently served as Race Chair for the 2009 race from Los Angeles to Honolulu. Carol and I have long loved tropical beach locations and my current goal is to live in the South of France near sailboats and an excellent French restaurant.
